Expiration of FFCRA Leave Requirements

Please note that as of December 31, 2020, the requirement that employers provide paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) has expired. Please visit the Wage and Hour Division’s FFCRA Questions and Answers page to learn more about workers’ and employers’ rights and responsibilities after Dec. 31, 2020.

What this means for clients: Because the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) expired on December 31, 2020, employers are no longer required to provide paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave after that date.

What this means for workers: The paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave that was offered to workers under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) is no longer available. FFCRA expired on December 31, 2020.
