CNC Setup Technician
Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Haas Machine Setup Technician to join our team on the afternoon shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM). The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and calibrating Haas CNC machines to produce high-precision parts. This role will require expertise in machine operation, tooling, and troubleshooting to ensure efficient and high-quality production runs. Compensation for this position will be dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup and Operation:
  • Set up, calibrate, and adjust Haas CNC machines (mills, lathes, etc.) to meet production requirements.
  • Install and align tools, fixtures, and parts for machining.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished products as per job specifications.
  • Programming Support:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
  • Input or upload CNC programs into Haas machines (manual programming or G-code).
  • Modify existing CNC programs when necessary to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Quality Control:
  • Inspect and measure machined parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Adjust machine settings based on inspection results to ensure that parts meet quality standards.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to all company policies and regulatory requirements related to machine operations and safety.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Report any discrepancies, issues, or production delays to the supervisor immediately.
Qualifications
  • Required Skills & Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent (Technical or Vocational training preferred).
    • Proven experience in setting up and operating Haas CNC machines (minimum of 2-3 years preferred).
    • Strong knowledge of CNC programming, machine setup, tooling, and G-code.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
    • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and quality control methods.
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly.
    • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certification in CNC machine operation or a related field.
    • Experience with Haas CNC software (such as Haas Post Processor).
    • Knowledge of 5-axis machining or multi-axis CNC operations.
    • Physical Requirements:
      • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
      • Ability to stand, bend, and work in a machine shop environment for extended periods.
    • Experience:
      • CNC Technician: 2 years (Required)
      • CNC milling machine: 2 years (Required)
      • CNC lathe: 2 years (Required)
      • Blueprint reading: 2 years (Required)
      • CNC programming: 2 years (Required)
